Work Style Reform (Work-Life Management)

Work-Life Balance Project

The PHC Group started Work-Life Balance (WLB) activities in 2014, mainly in PHC Corporation. We promote efficient ways of working and recommend employees to clearly separate work from private life, allowing their everyday lives to be enhanced to create a cycle where work and private life can generate synergistic advantages. All employees belong to an activity team and set goals for the activity. They discuss the issues for each team, adopt measures to settle issues and hold meetings to share and check results with each other on subjects such as “work,” “team communications” and “life.”

We now see concrete outcomes that lead to synergistic advantages such as the rise in teleworking and taking paid holidays as well as a reduction in overtime. These results are the outcome of mutual respect among team members, deepening understanding and smoothing communication through activities.

Work-Life Balance (WLB) activities are not just promoted by participating members but deeply rooted in the company as company-wide action activities that management and executives are taking the initiative to support. We have had requests to share our activities with other companies and for our case studies to be included on their websites. Our activity results have also appeared in books on work style reform.
