TOKYO, September 11, 2020 - PHC Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku) announces a new system linkage*1 between the Medicom-HRf*2, integrated electronic medical record system for clinics and the HealthCare Note service app*3. This will enable authorized parties to access and manage patient prescriptions and dispensing information issued from various clinics throughout Japan.
With today’s aging society, health management for the elderly is an issue. Aging patients tend to present with multiple diseases, and visits to different medical institutions result in several prescriptions, leading to greater risk for drug interactions and adverse reactions. To prevent health hazards and deliver more effective drug treatment, a new solution that allows medical institutions and pharmacies to access patient prescription history and medication information using a centralized and continuously updatable approach is needed.
Medicom-HRf is an integrated electronic medical record system for clinics, designed to streamline a doctor’s workflow, simplifying data input operations, as well as providing better medical services for patients. The HealthCare Note Service is an app that enables a patient to manage their personal medical data, such as medication and blood pressure data, from their smartphone. The app also provides other services*4, including video calls for online examinations, as well as credit card payments and home deliveries for prescriptions.
With these two systems linked, medication data for prescriptions made by other clinics will be uploaded to the medical institution’s Medicom-HRf system via the HealthCare Note service while notifying doctors with an alert function of medication redundancies or interactions resulting from multiple drugs. Doctors can determine the optimal prescription and treatment policy for the patient, leading to safer and more effective drug treatment. Information on drugs dispensed at the pharmacy based on the doctor’s generic prescribing*5 can also be comparatively displayed on the electronic medical record system, and doctors can easily confirm the name of the drug that has been dispensed from the generic prescription. In addition, new functions such as allowing prescribed information stored in the electronic medical record system to be shared with pharmacies via the HealthCare Note service will be available from January 2021. This will contribute to more efficient and consistent medical services, from online examination to online medication instruction.
PHC Corporation is a Japanese subsidiary of the PHC Group, a global healthcare company that develops, manufactures, sells, and services solutions across diabetes management, diagnostics and life sciences, as well as providing healthcare services. The new system linkage between Medicom-HRf and HealthCare Note Service is part of the cloud-based service linkage solution known as Medicom Cloud Connect*6. This solution aims to enhance and provide new services for the Medicom*7 brand domestic healthcare IT business.
Takayuki Otsuka, Corporate Officer and co-head of the Healthcare Services Domain of PHC Holdings Corporation says, “Since launching Japan’s first medical-receipt computer in 1972, PHC Corporation has established a strong healthcare IT business foundation for medical institutions, including clinics and pharmacies, using its accumulated experience and specialist expertise.
