Medicom Brand Electronic Medical Record System Now Compatible with Symview, a Web-Based Medical Questionnaire System in Japan — Wemex Provides Digital Transformation Solutions for Medical Clinics Through Connection with Reception Management and Cashless Payment Services —
Wemex Corporation (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President, Representative Director: Takayuki Otsuka, hereafter Wemex), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), announces that Medicom-branded electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical-receipt systems are now able to interface*1 with “Symview*2,” a web-based medical interview system developed by LAYERED Inc. (headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, President: Makito Kezuka, hereafter LAYERED). Symview is also now able to interface with Wemex’s integrated EMR system, Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud*3 and medical-receipt system, and Medicom-HRf core*3 system for clinics, via Medicom Cloud Connect API*4 technology.
The Symview online medical questionnaire system allows patients to upload completed medical questionnaires and consent forms to a cloud server before visiting the clinic, using smartphones, tablets, or computers. Typically, healthcare staff members need to enter or scan each patient’s medical information from paper documents into an EMR or medical-receipt system. This new interface between the online medical questionnaire and EMR enables basic patient information and details about symptoms to be submitted online and automatically reflected in the clinic systems. This connection will help prevent transcription errors and help healthcare providers confirm patient conditions and prepare before clinic visits, resulting in improved work efficiency.
Symview is now the third program to interface with Medicom Cloud Connect API, following previous linkages with reception and accounting services. Wemex products can now connect services for patient reception, medical questionnaires, and accounting, which are the three processes most in need of collaboration in clinics to ensure the streamlining of the entire workflow.
Benefits of Wemex products interfacing with Symview
#1 Contributes to work efficiency for healthcare providers and improved infection control through pre-visit medical questionnaires
Patients can answer intake questionnaires using smartphones or tablets before visiting a clinic, reducing the risk of physical contact and enhancing infection control within the facility. In addition, Symview’s question-sorting function allows physicians and healthcare providers to confirm the information they need to know online, streamlining reception and examination processes. The information received in advance also helps providers triage information to prioritize patient treatments.
#2 Reduces workload from EMR transcribing
Online questionnaires eliminate the need to scan, save, and transcribe documents required when using paper questionnaires. Furthermore, information entered in Symview will be automatically reflected in Medicom-HRf Hybrid Cloud. This eliminates the need to operate the online medical questionnaire and EMR separately when confirming patient information, resulting in reduced risk of transcription errors and reduced workload.
#3 Supports smooth examination process that improves engagement with patients
Symview can enable healthcare providers to send medical cautions to patients before their examinations depending on the patients’ questionnaire responses, as well as medication guidance after the examination. Since Medicom Cloud Connect API already links*5 with an online reception and a cashless payment service, introducing the connection with Symview will help improve engagement with patients by creating a smooth process that covers appointments, medical interviews, and accounting.
Takayuki Otsuka, President, Representative Director of Wemex, said, “Since launching the first medical-receipt system in 1972, we have expanded our healthcare IT business and offered best-in-class EMR systems to clinics across Japan. The technology of Medicom Cloud Connect API automatically links with a range of third-party servers, in addition to our own EMR and medical-receipt systems. We will promote further collaborations with new companies and seek to build a comprehensive healthcare IT infrastructure that responds to changes in societal needs. We are also committed to accelerating digital transformation in healthcare in Japan, and contributing to the enhancement of work efficiency of physicians and other healthcare providers to ultimately provide better healthcare for patients.”
