Panasonic Healthcare Introduces New Class II, Type A2 Biological Safety Cabinets

Wood Dale, IL, May 9, 2017 – In its 50th year of innovation, Panasonic Healthcare Corporation of North America has introduced a new line of Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs). The addition of new Class II, Type A2 BSCs allows Panasonic Healthcare to provide integrated solutions across the entire cell culture process. The new product line is ideal for low- to moderate-risk hazard areas in research, drug preparation and product operation. Cabinets meet NSF/ANSI 49 and UL/UL-C standards for safety and performance.

Panasonic Healthcare BSCs incorporate a laminar airflow control system, which includes a specially designed, high-efficiency motor with speed control. Cabinets are easily monitored through the microprocessor controller. The user-friendly softkey interface with universal icons allows for easy one-handed access to power controls and alarm/monitoring systems.

Cabinets are designed for ergonomic comfort, practical management of service utilities and front-access filter changes. The adjustable base allows for sitting or bench work and meets ADA requirements for accessibility and comfort. A sloped front cabinet profile improves ease-of-use and reduces strain from repetitive motions. The high capacity HEPA filter captures 99.99% of biological particulates 0.3 microns in size while the total airflow system provides consistent distribution of downflow air to prevent uneven filter loading.

Constructed for maximum seal integrity, Panasonic Healthcare BSC interior chambers are fabricated with 100% polished welds to eliminate the need for silicone sealants. Cabinets use a combination of negative pressure surrounding positive pressure plenums to eliminate the possibility of cabinet and gasket leaks. The standard, factory installed UV light, used for overnight interior air scrubbing, offers additional contamination protection.

The new line of Panasonic Healthcare BSCs includes four standard sizes for maximum flexibility in new or replacement installations. All cabinet sizes include the same features and offer the same level of personnel, product and environmental protection.

Panasonic Healthcare Biological Safety Cabinets provide an ideal work environment for demanding cell culture applications and life science research. With the introduction of the new product line, users can outfit laboratories with biological safety cabinets, cell culture incubators, biomedical refrigerators, and ultra-low temperature and cryogenic freezers from one source.
