PHC Corporation
TOKYO, August 20, 2020 - PHC Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Kyoji Morimoto) announces an upgrade to its HealthCare Note Service*1 that combines the current electronic medication notebook features with online medication instruction services. Implementation of this feature will be through a new connection to the online examination/medication instruction system YaDoc Quick*2, a dedicated system for medical institutions and pharmacies from Integrity Healthcare Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Chairman: Shinsuke Muto, President: Ai Sonoda). The upgrade is being prepared for a September release.
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in fear of infection through exposure within crowded pharmacies and resulted in a rise in treatment withdrawal as patients avoid pharmacy visits. The situation requires a new solution that can provide online medication related services. Solutions should also aim to reduce pharmacist workload and offer more convenience for patients, taking advantage of the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law*3 that will go into effect in September 2020 and provide approval for the use of online medication instructions.
The HealthCare Note Service enables patients to manage their personal medical data, such as medication and blood pressure data, on their smartphones and will allow them to send prescriptions to pharmacies beforehand to reduce waiting time. YaDoc Quick offers a quick and simple solution for online examinations from appointments to payment. It also does not require any time-consuming procedures, such as installing and using a dedicated app. Linking the two services allows patients to send prescriptions using the HealthCare Note app to pharmacies from their home and receive appropriate medication instructions via video calls by pharmacists, while they view medication history for the patients. Additionally, online payment by credit card is available through the system. The service is expected to prevent illnesses from worsening in the elderly population who may find it difficult to make pharmacy visits or in patients who are concerned about potential infection exposure at pharmacies, as it will provide a way to ensure they have uninterrupted medication treatment, complete with pharmacist instructions delivered safely at their home.
PHC Corporation is a Japanese subsidiary of the PHC Group, a global healthcare company that develops, manufactures, sells, and services solutions across diabetes management, diagnostics and life sciences, as well as providing healthcare services. The new HealthCare Note Service that will link to YaDoc Quick is part of the cloud-based service linkage solution Medicom Cloud Connect*4. This solution aims to enhance the Medicom*5 brand and provide new services for the domestic healthcare IT business.
Takayuki Otsuka, Corporate Officer and co-head of the Healthcare Services Domain of PHC Holdings Corporation says, “Our HealthCare Note service, developed in 2014, is highly acclaimed*6 for its advanced business model with a ripple effect across society. It’s currently used in over 3,300 pharmacies with more than 460,000 users. The linkage with YaDoc Quick for online medication instructions follows the recently announced connection with MICIN, Inc’s medication instruction service curon, a dedicated system for pharmacies. Going forward, we will continue to strengthen collaborations with partner companies to further improve convenience for patients and work efficiency for pharmacists who use the HealthCare Note service. Aiming to become the leading provider of best-in-class precision and digital solutions in healthcare services in Japan, we continue to contribute to better healthcare by enhancing our cloud-based service linkage solution Medicom Cloud Connect and offering optimal solutions that connect patients with pharmacists through data to enhance their health management.”
