TOKYO, January 22, 2020-PHC Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) announces the launch of the Medicom-HRf Standard*1, a new integrated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for clinics in Japan as the first product in its new cloud-based solution, Medicom Cloud Series.
Unlike on-site systems that use in-house servers, cloud-based EMR systems reduce routine maintenance tasks such as security updates or backups. However, risks associated with cloud-only systems exist, like interrupted workflows or data disruption during network disconnects, as EMR processing is conducted solely on the external cloud server. Operation and rate of processing may also be limited due to factors such as browsers used and/or the data terminal environment. These issues have yet to be addressed and need to be overcome before cloud-based servers can become reliable standalone systems.
Medicom-HRf Standard installed with Medicom Cloud Seamless Operation Service*2 is a hybrid EMR system*3 that integrates on-site type operation and a cloud-based server.
Usually an in-house server will be used to obtain fast operation and a switch to the cloud-based application can be performed during in-house server failure. Since the in-house server is realtime synced with the cloud-based server, the latest medical data is continually being saved with duplicate copies in both locations. Patients are able to receive efficient, seamless medical service.
