PHC Holdings Corporation
TOKYO, May 31, 2019 - PHC Corporation (hereafter PHC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, hereafter PHCHD), announces signing a basic agreement with MICIN, Inc. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, hereafter MICIN). The agreement covers linkage between PHC-developed electronic patient record systems and the MICIN-developed “curon” telemedicine services that include requesting courier service home delivery for medication prescribed to patients at medical facilities.
Chronic diseases requiring continuous treatment such as lifestyle-related diseases and dementia are on the rise. Many afflicted patients are in the prime of their working lives and busy or elderly people who require assistance going to/from medical facilities so visits often become difficult.
“curon” comprehensive telemedicine services allow making online medical treatment appointments, handling patient inquiries, medical examinations, and settling medical expenses as well as requesting home delivery of medication prescribed by medical facilities. In addition to doctor-patient chats and effective medical examination via video calls, prescribed medicine home delivery is expected to reduce the tendency for busy patients and elderly patients to stop treatment and prevent their diseases from advancing due to not getting medication. Medical treatment and information management is also made more effective through linkage with PHC’s electronic patient record systems.
PHCHD is a global healthcare company that offers value-added products and services in the fields of diabetes care, diagnostics, life sciences and healthcare IT. The current agreement aims to spread online medical treatment and further promote utilization of PHC’s electronic patient record systems representing its healthcare IT business through linking the system with MICIN’s online medical consultation services.
Takayuki Otsuka, member of the board and director of the Medical Information Systems (Medicom) Division said, "It was back in 1972 that our company launched Japan's first medical-receipt computer. Since then, we have leveraged our accumulated experience and knowhow to underscore our commitment to provide leading-edge healthcare IT solutions. We aim to build a next-generation healthcare solutions platform including telemedicine, covering the range from health management to medical examinations and diagnostics, all based on our major product category of electronic patient record systems. The partnership with MICIN will contribute to improving healthcare quality by providing better solutions services including telemedicine services to fulfill the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.
