Using the Same Energy Twice

Compressors in the PHCbi brand cascade refrigeration system run cooler than compressors not designed for ultra-low temperature applications. By using the same energy twice, the PHCbi brand system borrows refrigerant flow from the high-stage circuit (A), looping it through both compressor reservoirs (C) to cool the lubricating oil and extend compressor life.
 

Lubrication

Oil in the compressor lubricates the internal bearings. Each compressor motor doubles as a pump (D) and sprays an oil mist on the discharge head (E) for cooling. This spray significantly reduces the compressor discharge temperatures.
 

Heat Transfer

PHC has developed and implemented a new heat exchanger with added surface area to transfer heat out of the low-stage refrigeration condenser and into the high-stage evaporator. A secondary heat exchanger in the low-stage circuit (B) also reduces stress on the low-stage compressor. Better heat transfer assures cooler compressor operating temperatures, longer life and increased power to tolerate high ambient temperatures.

High Technology Insulation

VIP (vacuum insulation panels), a foamed-in-place polyurethane composite, results in an efficient, thin-wall cabinet, which has a higher insulation rating than conventional insulated cabinets. Insulated inner doors improve temperature uniformity, reduce cold air loss during door openings and extend warm-up times during power outages. Better insulation results in shorter compressor run time and lower energy consumption.
 

Robust Cabinet Construction

VIP freezers include an electro-galvanized interior surface selected for excellent heat transfer from the freezer chamber. The computer-designed evaporator coil is enhanced with a 90% metal bonding agent and strategically placed to achieve maximum surface area.

The EZlatch, available on VIP ECO models, spans only 45 degrees of total movement for easy, one-handed operation.

Ergonomic Design

The VIP Series upright freezer's access system is comprised of the outer door and inner doors, door gaskets, positive inner and outer door latches and a vacuum relief port. Chest freezer incorporates a positive latch, lid gasket and insulated sub-lid. These individual components work together to ensure comfortable operation, sample security, temperature integrity and frost control.
 

VIP ECO Series -86°C Upright Freezers

VIP ECO Series freezers are ENERGY STAR® Certified and use natural refrigerants that minimize environmental impact without compromising ultra-low temperature performance. VIP ECO freezers include the ergonomically designed EZlatch door handle for one-handed operation.
